Enjoying meals with MND can become challenging as muscles weaken that control chewing, swallowing or the strength and dexterity in your hands and arms. Difficulty eating and drinking may affect the nutrition and calories you require for a healthy weight and weight loss can also occur for a variety of reasons.

Feeling low or managing the stress of MND may also cause a loss of appetite and some research suggests that people with MND have a higher metabolism, so they use up calories faster. Weight loss may impact on your quality of life and eating well can help you restore energy, maintain weight and enjoy time with others.
