In a media release on 18 September 2014, Associate Professor Steve Vucic from Westmead Hospital and Professor Matthew Kiernan from the Brain and Mind Research Institute, both from NSW, announced the development of a 20 minute test to assist in diagnosis of motor neurone disease, that may be commercialised in the next year. You can see Steve's explanation of threshold tracking transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in the video of his presentation (at around 21:30 mins) at MND NSW 2014 Ask the Experts http://youtu.be/nzHBe9U6IzU?list=PLKmXsG38R4V_QQ8S9jDsFQNDewAl0OoZE

The #icebucketchallenge in Australia is a challenge to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) or ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Participants in the challenge have 48 hours to either donate to their local MND Association or dump a bucket of ice water over their heads (although most do both!). Then they challenge three others to Take the Challenge. People across Australia are taking up the Ice Bucket Challenge for MND.
