“The emotion of love, support, remembrance and hope in the room was palpable” Day of Hope and Remembrance Attendee 2025

Those of us who are touched by MND can feel isolated and that we are on our own. We recognise it is an incredibly tough journey for the person living with MND, for family members who are often carers, or as friends standing alongside those whom we love and cherish battle with the disease.

As a member of the MND community you are invited to join us in strength and solidarity with those living with MND and take a moment to reflect upon your own unique experience. Know that you are not alone.

Join us in the lead up to Global MND Day for our annual Day of Hope and Remembrance. Meet others who share in your grief, loss and hope for a future without MND. You, your family, friends and support network are most welcome to join us at this important event.

We warmly extend this invitation to members of the MND workforce. As health and community care professionals we recognise and acknowledge the vital role that you play in supporting people living with MND and families throughout their journey with MND.

Together, we will raise awareness of MND and reflect on its impact on people and families worldwide.

This is a free event, followed by light refreshments.  Registration is essential.

Candle Lighting Ceremony

During the candle lighting ceremony, we will hear stories of courage, resilience and hope as representatives from different groups of the MND community share their experience and light a candle. We will light a series of candles as:

  • a symbol of strength and unity for people living with MND and their carers
  • a special time to reflect and remember those who have died from the disease
  • a chance to acknowledge the incredible support received from the dedicated MND workforce and volunteers
  • a symbol of hope and encouragement to all scientists and researchers across the globe in the search for better care and their shared goal in finding a cure.

Guest Speaker

We look forward to announcing our guest speaker for the event in due course – watch this space, we will keep you updated.

Place a Blue Cornflower

The blue cornflower symbolises hope for the MND community across the globe. Though it may appear to be fragile it represents great strength and resilience within.

We invite you to dedicate a blue cornflower in the cornflower field in support for a person who is living with MND or in remembrance of a person who has died from the disease.

March of MND Faces: Submit a photo for display

A photographic display of people with MND forms a key part of the event. The display includes people living with MND and people who have died from the disease.

Your contribution becomes part of the MND NSW collection of Australia’s March of Faces. Photos submitted for this event will form a digital display. If you have submitted a photo in the past, it will also be displayed at the event.

Find out more about Australia’s March of Faces and complete the consent form to participate. Photo submissions close 10 June 2026.
