We've seen some amazing community spirit shown by our supporters, who have been very busy raising awareness and much-needed funds to assist families facing MND. We'd like to say a big thank you to you all, and take a moment to acknowledge your efforts:
- Bateau Bay Hotel Social Golf have donated $1000 to MND NSW to support families facing MND locally, and throughout NSW, the ACT and NT. Pete Taylor from Bateau Bay Hotel presented a cheque to our Team Leader Marnie Roelink.
- Mullumbimby Golf Club, Simon Martin and the MGC Board held their 2026 Motor Neurone Day fundraiser, held in honour of Steve Ryan. The event was chock full of golf and good times with 216 players there on the day, raising $6353.50 for MND NSW, with plans already for another event in 2027!
- The students and teachers at Gulmarrad Public School held a fundraiser in honour of one of their most loved teachers, Melaney Hamilton, who was diagnosed in 2024 with MND at the age of 30. The theme was to come dressed in Miss Hamilton's favourite colours; pink and blue. Every student in the school also decorated a cornflower template, and these were put together to create a whole school display that they have named their 'Garden of Hope'. They raised $1162 from the event to support families facing MND.
- The Eggert family held their Drink Tea for MND, raising $5353 for MND NSW. The event was organised by Cathy Eggert, and hosted by Grace and John Eggert, welcoming over 150 people from the Wauchope community for some fabulous food, a cuppa, and to raise awareness and vital funds to support families facing motor neurone disease.
- Sam, Jodie, Renee, Crystal, Gemma and Kym from the Amaroo School, Canberra, held an Ice Bucket Challenge and raised $2,144.
- Karen, Debbie, Jody, Linda, Kathy and Anne raised $3,392 at the "Inspired by Leny" MND Stall they held at Westfield Tuggerah. Held annually in honour of their friend Leny who worked at the shopping centre before sadly passing away from MND, this year they sold MND NSW supporter merchandise, held raffles and a 100 Board, and collected donations. Karen and her friends have been helping to raise funds for MND NSW, and awareness about motor neurone disease for several years now, raising almost $19,000 in total.
- Bronwyn Hendy and the Yarralumla Uniting Church for their Hymnfest and Afternoon Tea for MND fundraiser, which raised $3,508. Bronwyn said 'choosing this charity to support had personal meaning for members of the congregation as one of our families uses the wonderful support offered by MND NSW. Around 60 people – aged 0 to 100 – braved a particularly cold, wet and miserable Canberra day on August 9th to sing and raise funds for MND NSW at Yarralumla Uniting Church'.
