Debra-one-of-the-best-volunteers-ever

In late October Debra Larizza a long-term volunteer and Life Member of MND NSW is going to retire. While no-one deserves the chance to relax more than Debra, we can’t say that we’re not disappointed she’s going, because she is definitely one of the best volunteers ever!

Volunteering for us over 18 years, Debra has helped out in a range of ways. She’s been on the Fundraising Committee—working to organise the MND Ball, has helped with many information, education and support days making families feel welcomed and comfortable, packing our newsletter, fulfilling admin duties and more recently working on reception. Anyone who has called the office on a Friday would have heard Debra’s cheery voice on the other end of the phone and she’s probably made your day. She definitely makes ours every time she bustles into the office.

In 2011 Debra was nominated for Volunteer of the year and in 2017 was awarded Life Membership of MND NSW.

Over the years Debra’s enthusiasm has been infectious. Everyone who works or engages with her can’t help but feel welcome and supported. I speak for the entire MND NSW community when I say we will sorely miss her and we wish Debra and husband Robert a happy retirement (finally she says but too soon we say!).
