Isabella Lambert-Smith (PhD Candidate, Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute, International BSc (Honours), University of Wollongong NSW) has provided us with a special summary of the key MND research hot topics from the 27th International Symposium on ALS/MND held in December 2016.

The 27th International Symposium on ALS/MND was off to an exciting start with Roel Vermeulen (Utrecht, The Netherlands) taking us on a tour of the ALS/MND ‘exposome’ in the joint opening session.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has released a number of free resources outlining the rights and obligations of consumers and providers in the emerging disability marketplace. When you pay for a product or service yourself, as an NDIS participant, or through your state or territory's disability support system - you have consumer rights.

MND Connect was held at the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) on 22 October 2016 and brought together the community, researchers and clinicians in an interactive forum to discuss MND research. The presentations from the day covered topics from gene discovery to clinical trials, and the current status of stem cell research.
