We’d like to give a heartfelt thank you to Deidree Jones, who has been supporting MND NSW for over 25 years!
Deidree has been a member of MND NSW since 1985 after her mother was diagnosed in February of that year. She sadly passed away in October 1985.
Knowing the importance of the support MND NSW provides to families facing MND, in 2000 Deidree started fundraising for MND NSW, and became a volunteer in 2012. Since that time, she has volunteered at Batemans Bay Walk to Defeat MND events, charity Golf Days, Fair Days, and has held regular merchandise stalls for a couple of days each month at Batemans Bay shopping centres.
With the help of a wonderful group of friends - Bronwyn Hargreaves, Barbara Gellatly, Padma Goerman, Davida MaChing, Susan Harland, and Phil Penman - together they have raised more than $30k over the years to help MND NSW continue to do the vital work we do.
Whilst Deidree has decided to take a well-earned rest from the regular stall this year, she has not stopped helping. When a local soccer club decided to do a fundraiser to raise money for MND NSW in June this year, Deidree and Bronwyn were quick to put their hands up and sell MND NSW merchandise and help raise much needed funds and awareness for MND NSW.
The impact of the work Deidree and her team has had in raising awareness of MND NSW in her local community is invaluable and greatly appreciated. Thank you for all you have done for MND NSW and the MND Community!
